Testimonials

"Volunteering at Sembrando Paz y Esperanza as an English teacher for two months was both challenging and fulfilling. As a digital nomad, I balanced my remote work during the day and taught English classes in the late afternoon. My routine was well-structured: mornings were for my freelance projects, and from 4 PM onwards, I focused on conversational English classes.
The students were eager to learn, and it was amazing to see their progress. Building connections with them was incredibly rewarding, and I often stayed after class to chat about their dreams and ambitions. Immersing myself in the local culture meant I didn’t need formal Spanish lessons—I naturally picked up phrases and expressions just by being present. This experience not only honed my teaching skills but also gave me a profound sense of purpose and belonging."

"Moving from the USA to MedellÃn to volunteer at Sembrando Paz y Esperanza was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I spent a year mentoring young adults in IT, focusing on cloud computing and programming basics. My sessions were practical, encouraging students to develop projects and think creatively.
The emotional impact of seeing these young people gain confidence and technical skills was overwhelming. Many students started with little knowledge and ended up building their own apps and websites. Witnessing their growth filled me with pride and motivated me to continue pushing the boundaries of what they could achieve. This experience taught me that empowerment through education is a truly powerful force."

"Working at Sembrando Paz y Esperanza as a Community Outreach Coordinator for six months gave me a deep sense of purpose. My typical week was filled with planning community events, conducting outreach visits, and collaborating with local leaders. No two days were the same—sometimes I was organizing workshops, and other days I was meeting with families to understand their needs.
The foundation became my second home. I learned how to organize large groups efficiently, communicate with diverse audiences, and manage logistics for community activities. The experience shaped me both professionally and personally, helping me become more empathetic and community-driven."

"Volunteering as a graphic designer for four months was an eye-opening experience. As a digital nomad, I balanced freelance work in the mornings and hosted creative workshops in the afternoons. My routine involved designing promotional materials for foundation events and teaching digital design to local youth.
Beyond the professional growth, the emotional connection with the community left a lasting impact. I learned Spanish naturally through daily conversations and felt more confident with each interaction. It was fulfilling to see how my creative work contributed to the foundation’s visibility and helped strengthen community ties."

"Volunteering as a Social Media Coordinator for nine months allowed me to blend my passion for storytelling with making a tangible difference. My daily routine involved crafting content that showcased community stories and foundation updates. It was rewarding to see how our online presence grew and how positively people responded.
The experience was also emotionally enriching—I connected with volunteers from around the world and found a sense of belonging despite being far from home. Immersed in the Colombian culture, I picked up conversational Spanish quickly without formal lessons, which enhanced my ability to communicate with locals and collaborate effectively."

"Deciding to become a volunteer with Sembradores Paz y Esperanza was one of the most significant choices of my life. I came to Colombia, a country that taught me a lot about resilience, but also about the difficulty of accessing opportunities and support. When I heard about the foundation, I realized it was the right time to do something concrete, to give love and hope to those who truly needed it.
As a volunteer, I was involved in various activities, including helping children with homework, organizing educational games, and supporting cultural activities. One of the aspects that gave me the most satisfaction was teaching photography to the children. I had the chance to share with them the beauty of capturing special moments, of looking at the world through the lens of a camera. Every time a child managed to take a meaningful photo, it was as if they were seeing the world with new eyes.
I volunteered for 6 months, working with the team every day. Every moment spent with the foundation enriched me and made me realize how important every small gesture was.
During this experience, I put my Spanish language skills to good use, and I also developed new abilities, particularly in intercultural communication. But what taught me the most was how to truly give my heart and serve others, especially teaching photography, which allowed me to stimulate the children's creativity and bring them closer to visual art.
This experience taught me a lot about what love truly is. A pure, selfless love that asked for nothing in return, but gave from the heart. I learned to understand that love is not just a feeling, but an action, a daily commitment. I also improved my Spanish, but what enriched me the most was learning deep human values.
This experience changed me deeply. I was no longer the same person who came to Colombia. I saw the faces of the children, heard their stories, listened to the dreams they had, and witnessed their courage and hope. In return, they taught me what it truly meant to love, as Sara, Jenny, Diego, and every child at the foundation showed me every day. The love I received from them touched my soul in a way I never imagined.
I saw a significant change in the faces of the children. Self-confidence, hope for a better future, and the awareness that there were people willing to help them. Every smile I received in return for my effort made me realize that our work was making a difference. The community became stronger, united, and I hoped that, with our help, every young person could believe more in themselves.
To anyone who was thinking about becoming a volunteer, I said: don’t hesitate. This experience not only changed the lives of those I helped but also my own. Becoming a volunteer meant discovering the true meaning of solidarity and love. Every small action could have had an enormous impact. I invited them to join us, and together we would have made a difference."
